About Us

Husband and wife team, Julian Fox & Louise Perrin manage a traditional apple orchard together with a large fruit & vegetable garden around their family home on the edge of the Blackdown Hills just outside Wellington. There have been orchards on this site for over 100 years.

Home grown Hand made

We aim to make all our preserves from our own fruit & veg - these are hand prepared and cooked in small batches in our own kitchen. We will buy fruit from local producers to supplement our own fruit if we have a poor harvest and of course we’re not able to grow oranges & lemons in our climate!  We also forage for berries in our hedgerows.  We grow chillies and herbs to use for cooking.

Traditional & contemporary flavours

We offer a range of traditional & contemporary flavours and use different preserving methods. We like to experiment and made our first range of fruit vinegars in 2014 followed by Quince Cheese in the autumn.  Blackcurrant is a very robust flavour and we're delighted to introduce a Blackcurrant & Chilli Jelly and a Blackcurrant and Liquorice Jelly into our range.

For us preserving the taste is our top priority.

Using surplus fruit & veg

Our preserves were originally made from fruit & veg that would otherwise go to waste. Some of the trees and fruit bushes are now beginning to show their age and we have begun to replace ageing stock. We recently planted plum, damson, quince, cherry & peach trees, and more varieties of apple.

Making room for wildlife

Julian has been keeping bees for many years. The bees do a crucial job of pollinating the apples, soft fruit and vegetables and supply us with a delicate tasting honey. We prefer to garden in harmony with nature encouraging a diversity of wildlife. A new hedge was planted with over 18 species that provide food & shelter for wildlife and will provide berries for us in the autumn.
